Rovers

Open to all young people aged 18 to 26 years old, with Associated members aged 26 to 34.

Rover Scouts operate in Crews.

The minimum number required for a Crew to operate is five active members however, Crews work more effectively with at least 8 to 10 Rovers. Some Crews have 30 to 40 Rovers.

The Crew is responsible for its own programme and administration. It is similar to other self-managed adult organisations, but within the rules of the Scout Organisation.

Each Rover Crew operates as a separate Scout Group, under the direction of a Crew Leader and Assistant Crew Leader. These are warranted positions in the Scout Association and are elected annually by the Rover Crew along with other positions that are required for the crew to operate.

Rovers wear the same uniform as other sections and they:

  • Provide service to the Scout Movement
  • Provide service to the community
  • Develop as individuals by expanding personal skills
  • Enjoy fellowship, social, out door personal skills and cultural activities
